Regīna Kleina is a Professor at the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Riga Stradiņš University since 2008. She has been a practicing pathologist at Riga Eastern Clinical University Hospital since 1982.
- Education: Doctor's diploma from Riga Medical Institute (1970-1976), Secondary school diploma from Riga Secondary School Nr. 50 (1959-1970), Dr. med. in Pathology from Moscow 1st Medical Institute (1984)
Research Interests focus on morphological aspects of cardiovascular diseases, oncological and non-oncological gastrointestinal pathology, morphology of infectious diseases, and metabolic syndrome studies. She has led projects on endometrial cancer characteristics and gastric cancer mortality reduction in Latvia.
Scientific Contributions include 15+ publications in pathology, with key work on:
- Immunohistochemical markers in renal tumors
- Metabolic syndrome effects on immune cells
- Endometrial cancer classification
- Undiagnosed malignancies analysis
- AL-amyloidosis in myeloma patients
Awards include the Ministry of Health's Honorary Letter (2015) and the Barricade Participant award (2006).
She has been a member of the RSU Ethics Committee since 2009, Latvian Association of Pathologists since 1992, and Baltic German Medical Association since 1993.
