Prof. Dr. Regina Aebi–Müller is a full Professor of Private and Comparative Law at the University of Lucerne, Faculty of Law. She holds a Dr. iur. and has held roles including Vice Dean, Dean of the Faculty of Law (2006–2007), and currently serves as Vice Rector for Personnel and Professorships since 2020. Her research focuses on civil law, family law, medical law, and sports law, supported by Swiss National Science Foundation grants. She teaches private law, family law, and medical law at both bachelor’s and master’s levels, earning Best Teaching Awards in 2017 and 2018.
Education: Studied Law at the University of Berne (1990–1997), completed a doctorate in 2000 (awarded the Professor Walther Hug Prize), and obtained a venia docendi in 2005. Previously held roles at the Universities of Fribourg and Berne before joining Lucerne in 2004.
Research interests span legal capacity, inheritance law, association law, and foundation law. She leads the Zentrum für Recht und Gesundheit and serves on ethics and research integrity bodies, including the Central Ethics Commission of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and the Austrian Agency for Research Integrity. Active in professional organizations, including the Academic Association for Family Law and Kompetenzzentrum Medizin–Ethik–Recht Helvetiae.
