Marc Hürzeler

Prof. Marc Hürzeler is a full Professor of Social Security Law and Private Insurance Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Lucerne since 2015. Previously, he held a 50% assistant professorship there (2011-2015). He also teaches at the University of Basel and consults at Schmid Hofer Rechtsanwälte. Hürzeler earned his licentiate and doctorate (summa cum laude) from the University of Basel (2003/2005), followed by a habilitation in 2014. His expertise spans social insurance systems, liability law, and insurance law, with significant professional experience at SUVA, Helvetia Insurance, and as Managing Director of Helvetia Consulta AG. He received notable awards for his doctoral work on disability issues in occupational pensions.
