Regan Stewart

Dr. Regan Stewart is an Associate Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She is a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed Clinical Psychologist and Director of the Telehealth Outreach Program for Traumatic Stress within the Mental Health Disparities Program. Her career integrates clinical practice, research, and education to address mental health disparities among underserved youth through telehealth and trauma-focused interventions.

• Educational background: B.A. in Spanish and M.A. in Early Childhood Education from the College of Charleston; M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi.

Dr. Stewart’s research emphasizes the dissemination of evidence-based trauma-focused treatments, particularly Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), via telehealth in low-resource settings. She also focuses on disaster preparedness and response, co-directing the Puerto Rico Mental Health Awareness Training Project. Her work extends to Latin America and school-based implementation of trauma interventions.

Key funding sources include SAMHSA, HRSA, MUSC Center for Telehealth, and the South Carolina Telehealth Alliance. She has developed the first Spanish language telemental health textbook (2022) and trained organizations nationwide in telehealth best practices.
