Regan Baum

Dr. Regan Baum is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky's College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacist at UK Healthcare. Her roles include providing pharmaceutical care in the Emergency Department, precepting pharmacy residents and students, and teaching in Emergency Medicine and Clinical Toxicology. She holds dual affiliations as non-physician teaching faculty in the Department of Emergency Medicine and coordinates electives in Emergency Medicine, Clinical Toxicology, and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) within the Pharm.D curriculum.

Dr. Baum earned her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, followed by PGY1 and PGY2 residencies in Pharmacy Practice and Emergency Medicine at UK Healthcare. Her expertise spans toxicology, infectious disease management, resuscitation protocols, and medical education. She has contributed to over 40 peer-reviewed publications, focusing on emergency pharmacotherapy, overdose management, and innovative clinical practices.

Her research emphasizes optimizing drug therapies in acute care settings, including anticoagulant reversal strategies, pediatric anxiolysis, and novel uses of nebulized medications. She has pioneered protocols for acetaminophen overdose management in obese patients and developed screening tools for non-fatal overdoses.

Dr. Baum’s teaching innovations include co-coordinating interprofessional electives and contributing to emergency medicine pharmacist training. Her work bridges clinical practice and education, aiming to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based pharmacotherapy and interprofessional collaboration.
