Rebecca Wright is a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Environmental Sciences. She is a member of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, and ClimateUEA. Her research focuses on modeling Southern Ocean carbon dynamics and the role of gelatinous zooplankton in marine ecosystems. She holds a PhD from UEA (2019), an MSc from Bangor University (Marine Science), and a BSc in Marine Biology with Oceanography.
Her work includes projects like SONATA (Southern Ocean variability modeling) and contributions to initiatives like the Global Carbon Budget assessments. She has led or collaborated on projects funded by the EU Horizon 2020, Natural Environment Research Council, and Advanced Research & Invention Agency. Her research bridges climate science, oceanography, and biogeochemical modeling to address global carbon cycle challenges.
Key scientific interests include climate change impacts, ocean carbon sinks, and the interaction between marine ecosystems and anthropogenic pressures. She has published widely on Southern Ocean dynamics, climate-driven variability, and the implications of global warming scenarios.
