Dr. Rebecca Wells serves as Senior Lecturer in Food Policy at City St George's, University of London, where she directs the MSc Food Policy program and acts as Employability Lead for the Health Services Research and Management department. Her academic home is the Centre for Food Policy within the School of Health Sciences, where she leads modules on Food Culture and Society and Developing Professional Practice.
Her research focuses on food policy communication, with particular expertise in media analysis, food systems education, and hybrid teaching methodologies. She has led significant projects including IFSTAL (Interdisciplinary Food Systems Teaching and Learning) and currently serves as Co-Investigator on five major research initiatives: UKRI BBSRC's Fix Our Food, NIHR's HEALTHEI, UKRI NERC's Joined-Up Landscapes, and the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Food Systems. Her work bridges academic research with practical policy applications, examining how food policies develop and interact with media narratives.
Notable publications reveal trends in food policy communication, with recent work analyzing UK food supply alignment with dietary guidelines (2025), media portrayal of pandemic behaviors (2025), and international food education systems (2022). As Employability Lead, she connects academic training with professional development in food policy.
