Rebecca Van Hove is an Assistant Professor of Ancient History at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. Her research focuses on ancient Greek society, particularly Greek religion, law, and rhetoric, examining how religious and legal systems interacted in classical Athens. She holds a PhD from King’s College London (2018) and has held postdoctoral positions at Ghent University, the University of Liège, and the Collège de France. Her current project explores the role of writing in ancient Greek religion.

Research interests include Greek epigraphy, divination practices, and the intersection of religion with legal and political institutions. She has published extensively on topics such as religious authority in Athenian oratory and divine denominations in inscriptions.
Recent work includes analyses of divine references in legal contexts and the materiality of inscribed texts. She has reviewed major works on Greek religion and contributes to interdisciplinary discussions on Greco-Roman religious practices.
