Rebecca S. Overbury

Rebecca S. Overbury is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah since 2018, with dual appointments in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology and the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Rheumatology. She specializes in pediatric and adult rheumatology care, focusing on healthcare transition for patients with childhood-onset rheumatic diseases.

• Education: M.D. from University of Tennessee (2012); M.S. in Biologic and Forensic Anthropology from Mercyhurst University (2016); B.A. in Anthropology and French from University of Tennessee (2008).

Her research centers on improving healthcare transition processes for adolescent and young adult patients with rheumatic diseases, including mixed methods studies, clinic design, and patient communication. She directs the Adult Center for Childhood Onset Rheumatic Diseases at the University of Utah.

Recent publications highlight innovations in transition clinics, implementation of transition protocols, and diagnostic tools like capillaroscopy. These works span 2015–2025, with recent 2024–2025 studies on guide dissemination and system adaptations.
