Dr Rebecca Mead is a Research Fellow in the Faculty of Health and Medicine at Lancaster University, specializing in reducing health inequalities through public health policy and community empowerment strategies. She holds a PhD and has extensive experience in participatory research methods with marginalized communities. As Programme Coordinator for the NIHR School for Public Health Research's Health Inequalities Programme, she leads projects analyzing systemic conditions for health equity and co-producing knowledge with disadvantaged groups.
Her research interests include systems thinking, power dynamics, and health resilience, with a focus on enabling local policymakers to implement Health Equity in All Policies. Notable work includes evaluating the Big Local community empowerment initiative and analyzing local health strategies under austerity. She has contributed to over 20 peer-reviewed articles and led multiple research projects addressing social determinants of health.
