Rebecca Manley is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Queen's University, part of the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley (2004) and a B.A. from the University of Toronto (1996). Her research focuses on Russian and Soviet history, particularly the impact of WWII evacuation and the cultural dimensions of hunger. She has authored To the Tashkent Station (2009), recognized with the W. Bruce Lincoln Prize and Heldt Prize. Current projects include Tsar Hunger: Conceiving Hunger in Modern Russian History, supported by a SSHRC Insight Grant. She teaches courses on Soviet history, European politics, and the history of hunger.

Research explores displacement, famine narratives, and Soviet socio-political structures through archival sources from Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Her work bridges cultural history with material realities, offering fresh perspectives on Russian historiography.
