Rebecca Luce-Kapler is the Dean of the Faculty of Education at Queen’s University and holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Language and Literacy Education. She earned her B.Ed., MEd, and PhD from the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on literary practices, particularly writing’s role in shaping human consciousness and identity. She emphasizes interpretive reading/writing practices for generative learning and critiques normative cultural forms in education.
Her work bridges literary studies and pedagogy, exploring topics like narrative agency, curriculum design, and new literacies. Notable publications include Writing with, through, and beyond the text and Engaging Minds: Changing Teaching in Complex Times. She also engages in applied research with marginalized populations, such as incarcerated men through creative writing projects.
