Dr. Rebecca Lim is an Adjunct Associate Professor (Research) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Monash University, affiliated with Monash Health and The Ritchie Centre. She holds a PhD in Medicine and Pharmacology from the University of Western Australia, focusing on liver progenitor cells in chronic hepatitis. Her research group explores regenerative medicine, particularly amnion-derived stem-like cells and extracellular vesicles, with clinical translation in lung repair, stroke, and fibrotic diseases. She leads over 30 active research projects, including clinical trials for Crohn’s disease and stroke therapies.
Key roles include Chief Investigator on multiple NHMRC and industry grants, and collaborations with institutions like Newcastle University and Exosome Biosciences. She sits on editorial boards for journals like Stem Cell Research & Therapy and advises organizations such as CCRM Australia. Lim has received awards including the Fielding Foundation Fellowship and International Society for Cell Therapies recognition.
Research interests span regenerative medicine, stem cell biology, and translational therapies targeting chronic inflammation, fibrosis, and organ repair. Her lab’s work on amnion cells has advanced treatments for cirrhosis, pulmonary hypertension, and perianal fistulas. Ongoing projects include exosome-based therapies and novel cell-free regenerative approaches.
