Rebecca Lennartz is a Researcher and Doctoral Candidate at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), affiliated with the Machine Learning and Data Analytics Lab within the Department of Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Engineering (AIBE). Her work focuses on Sports Analytics, biosignal processing, and applying machine learning to sports performance and biomechanics.
Education includes an M.Sc. in Medical Engineering (Medical Image and Data Processing) from FAU (2020–2022), a B.Sc. in Medical Engineering (Industrial MedTec) from Furtwangen University (2016–2020), and studies abroad at the University of New Brunswick (2019–2020). She has completed internships at TRUMPF Laser GmbH and Aesculap AG, and was a Visiting Student at the University of Calgary's Human Performance Lab (2022).
Her research explores the impact of protective equipment on athlete motion, gamification in sports motivation, and running biomechanics using neural networks. She collaborates with institutions like Siemens and the Human Performance Lab (University of Calgary) through supervised projects. Recent work includes studies on ice hockey gear restrictions and motivation analysis in soccer using biosignals.
Teaching contributions include supervising projects like xSprint (2025), OneSpot (2024), and developing apps for health and sports analytics. She has advised multiple Master's and Bachelor's theses on topics ranging from AI in sports performance to nutritional analysis.
