Rebecca L. Martin is the Coordinator and an Instructor for the Homeland Security degree program at Wichita State University. Her career spans over 23 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where she held roles including Supervisory Senior Resident Agent (SSRA) and conducted complex investigations in financial crimes, government corruption, and national security. She retired from the FBI in 2020 and now focuses on academia, combining her law enforcement expertise with teaching.
Education: Rebecca earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to the FBI, she served as a police officer with the Cincinnati Police Department for five years, specializing in mountain bike patrol.
Research Interests: Her professional background emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration in criminal justice, homeland security policy, and the application of investigative techniques to combat financial fraud and violent crimes. She has extensive experience in intelligence-sharing and joint operations with federal, state, and local agencies.
Professional Experience: As an FBI Special Agent, she investigated health care fraud, corporate fraud, and violent crimes while contributing to national security initiatives. She also served on selection panels for new FBI agents and was part of the Kansas City Division Evidence Response Team.
Personal: Lives in Wichita, Kansas, with her husband (a Wichita Police Captain) and three children.
