Rebecca Joubin is a Professor of Arab Studies and Chair of her department at Davidson College. Her work focuses on gender studies in the Middle East, modern Arabic and Persian literature, and the politics of Middle Eastern drama and media.

Her research explores how contemporary Syrian art and media reflect societal issues such as identity, gender, and political discourse. She has published extensively on Syrian television drama, including two monographs analyzing gender and marriage narratives in the context of the Arab Spring and broader social change.
While at Davidson, she has guided students to secure prestigious grants like the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, Dean Rusk, and Abernathy Fellowships, culminating in publications in outlets like Syria Untold and al-Araby.
Joubin is also an active translator of Persian and Arabic literature, including works by Moniru Ravanipur and Hassan Sami Yusuf. She is currently working on a book project examining eighteenth-century French Orientalism.
