Rebecca J White is the Walter Chair of Entrepreneurship, Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship, and Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at The University of Tampa. She holds a B.S. from Concord University, an MBA and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech University. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship pedagogy, strategic leadership in equity-backed companies, and opportunity recognition. She has led the development of nationally ranked entrepreneurship programs, including at Northern Kentucky University and The University of Tampa, which was recognized as the 2014 Outstanding Emerging Entrepreneurship Program by USASBE.
Dr. White has received over 20 awards for her contributions, including the Justin G. Longenecker Fellow (2015), Tampa Bay Business Journal Business Woman of the Year (2010), and Freedoms Foundation Leavey Award (2005). She founded the Women’s Entrepreneurship Institute and has advised numerous companies through her firm, WhiteBoard Advising. Her work emphasizes adapting leadership styles to business lifecycle stages and fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Key grants include a $1.1M Fifth Third Bank Entrepreneurship Initiative (Northern Kentucky University) and a $225K Kentucky Entrepreneurship Research Center grant. She has published extensively on entrepreneurship education, risk mitigation in higher education, and strategic management.
