Dr. Rebecca Hummel serves as a Scientific Associate in the School Theory with a Focus on Primary and Special Schools working group within the Faculty of Education at Bielefeld University. Her position is affiliated with both the Academic Mid-Levels department and several active research projects.
Her research focuses on student questions in inclusive science classes, the transition from elementary to primary school, and issues related to child poverty and educational disadvantage. Her dissertation project examines children's questions from a parent's perspective through qualitative exploratory methods analyzing parental handling of children's questions.
Dr. Hummel is actively involved in two major research projects: Questions in Social Studies in Primary Schools (FragS), a video-based observation study examining student questions in relation to teaching quality, and FragForsch. She is also a member of BiSEd (Bielefelder Studiengang Elementarbildung) within the Faculty of Education.
