Rebecca Gumbrell-McCormick

Dr Rebecca Gumbrell-McCormick is a Senior Lecturer at the Birkbeck Business School, part of Birkbeck, University of London. Previously, she held roles at the International Union of Food and Allied Workers' Associations (IUF), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and the British union MSF. Her expertise lies in international and comparative employment relations, trade union dynamics, equality issues, and global governance frameworks.

Her research focuses on European and international labor movements, trade union strategies, and the challenges posed by precarious work and globalization. She has supervised doctoral students examining topics like EU labor migration post-Brexit, whistleblowing in banking, and labor market insecurity.

Teaching responsibilities include the 'Contemporary Perspectives in Employment Relations' module. Her publications span high-impact journals such as Economic and Industrial Democracy and Journal of Industrial Relations, with a focus on union democracy, Brexit implications for labor, and cross-border solidarity networks.
