Rebecca Goddard

Rebecca Goddard is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Cultural Production at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), affiliated with the College of Arts, Technology and Environment. Her work bridges artistic practice and academic research, focusing on photography, materiality, and explorations of landscape, memory, and ecological impact.

She holds an MA in Visual Culture from Bath Spa University and integrates practice-led methodologies into her teaching and research. Her projects often interrogate the social, psychological, and political values of materials through alternative photography, moving image, and sound.

Recent presentations, such as 'The Rubbish Tip Archive' and 'Salt rhyne,' highlight her experimental approaches to waste, ecological damage, and liquid knowledge. These works employ camera-less prints, pinhole exposures, and embodied research to critique industrial waste systems and reimagine human-material relationships.

Rebecca contributes to research groups including the Bristol Photography Research Group, Digital Cultures Research Centre, and Visual and Material Practices Research Group. Her practice explores themes like the geological and ideological history of Portland stone, landfill leachates, and slow seeping methodologies.
