Rebecca Bell

Dr Rebecca Bell serves as Senior Lecturer in Visual Culture at the Faculty of Arts, Creative Industries, and Education (ACE) at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Her academic credentials include an MA Hons, MPHil, PhD (focused on Czech craft under Socialism through the Victoria and Albert Museum and Royal College of Art), PGCert, and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Her research centers on pastoral materialities and embodiment, investigating landscape and making/unmaking practices within the Anthropocene through interdisciplinary writing and painting. She curates the collaborative project Embodied Daily Practice involving 19 cross-disciplinary makers, while advancing specialized work in pedagogies of hope, care ethics, and object-based learning methodologies.

Rebecca Bell actively participates in the Visual Culture Research Group and a writing methodologies research collective. Her professional trajectory includes over a decade in public art commissioning (Andy Goldsworthy, DACS, Art on the Underground), leadership of the Royal College of Art's Curating Contemporary Art and Design Summer School for five years, and teaching appointments at Middlesex University, UMPRUM Prague, The School of Life, and RCA.
