Rebecca Fischbein

Dr. Rebecca Fischbein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). She specializes in teaching research methodologies, statistics, social determinants of health, and quality improvement to medical, graduate, and post-graduate students. Her research emphasizes patient-centered care, particularly focusing on symptomatology, diagnostic experiences, health disparities, and mental health screening in special populations, including during pregnancy. Dr. Fischbein has received notable awards, including the 2021 Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award and the 2019 Junior Faculty Award at NEOMED.

Dr. Fischbein’s academic roles include co-directing and teaching in NEOMED’s College of Graduate Studies courses, such as Public Health Research and Evaluation, Capstone I, and Capstone II. She also contributes to the College of Medicine’s Population Health and Social Determinants of Health courses. Her research spans topics like maternal health, disability-focused healthcare education, and interprofessional collaboration in student-run clinics.

Her recent work includes innovative studies on improving care for visually impaired patients, analyzing social media use during twin pregnancies, and developing tools for accessible virtual research. Dr. Fischbein actively mentors students in research, both formally (dissertation advising) and informally, fostering a supportive academic environment.

She collaborates closely with initiatives like the student-run free clinic, integrating behavioral health services during the pandemic.
