Rebecca Evans

Rebecca Evans serves as a Visiting Lecturer for the MSc Sportswear Design program at Birmingham City University, leveraging 18+ years of industry expertise in technical apparel design. Her professional background spans leading outdoor brands including Berghaus, Rohan, Salomon, and Musto.

Her educational foundation includes a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and an MA in Fashion and Textiles from Nottingham Trent University. Rebecca's research centers on durable functional apparel and environmental sustainability, with core interests in Sportswear Design, Circular Fashion, and Technical Apparel development.

As founder of the microbrand Utilifolk, she pioneers circular design methodologies by repurposing technical outdoor gear into functional everyday clothing. Her industry consultancy work with clients like Finisterre, Wolverine, and Kingfisher PLC informs her academic approach to teaching design processes from concept to production.

Rebecca mentors students in integrating technical fabrics, construction techniques, and end-user feedback while emphasizing product longevity and end-of-life circularity principles throughout the design lifecycle.
