Rebecca Chernock, MD, is a Professor at Washington University School of Medicine in the Departments of Pathology & Immunology and Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. She serves as the Section Head of Head and Neck Pathology and Director of the Selective (Head & Neck) Pathology Fellowship. Her research focuses on thyroid pathology and the role of viruses (notably Human Papillomavirus and Merkel cell polyomavirus) in head and neck cancer.
- Education: BS from The College of New Jersey, PhD from Washington University School of Medicine.
- Board Certifications: American Board of Pathology (Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, 2008–present), with medical licenses in Missouri (2007–present) and Illinois (2014–present).
Her recent work addresses international consensus guidelines for extranodal extension in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, preanalytical phase challenges in transoral robotic surgeries, and HPV testing updates. She collaborates on clinical protocols and diagnostic accuracy in surgical oncology.
She is associated with the Head and Neck Pathology Fellowship program and maintains active clinical and research leadership roles.
