Rebecca Burnworth

Rebecca Burnworth is a Lecturer in the Department of Recreation Sciences at East Carolina University's College of Health and Human Performance. She coordinates recreational therapy internships and teaches courses related to recreation sciences. A double graduate of ECU, she holds a BS in Recreational Therapy and an MS in Recreation, Leisure, Facilities, and Tourism.

Her research interests focus on recreational therapy applications in behavioral health, leisure studies, facilities management, and tourism. She maintains strong professional engagement, serving on committees for the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) and North Carolina Recreation Therapy Association (NCRTA), where she previously held the role of President.

Burnworth's clinical background includes specialized work in psychiatric settings at Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital), where she mentored students through practicums and internships. She continues to supervise student fieldwork as part of her academic responsibilities.
