Rebecca A. Nedostup is an Associate Professor of History and East Asian Studies at Brown University. She specializes in modern Chinese history, focusing on displacement, migration, and the social and political roles of the dead in wartime and postwar contexts. Her research explores the intersection of religion, state-building, and modernity in China and Taiwan.

Research Interests: Dr. Nedostup investigates the cultural and social impact of modern Chinese political movements, migration, and the treatment of the dead in the modern era. Her work bridges themes like ritual studies, spatial analysis, and transitional justice. Key topics include wartime displacement, the role of the dead in community formation, and the politicization of religion and memory in China and Taiwan.
