Rebeca Munoz-Torres is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Westminster Business School (University of Westminster) since 2008. She previously held roles as Teaching Fellow at the University of Warwick and Teaching Assistant at the University of Leicester. Her expertise spans applied macroeconomics, emerging economies, monetary policy, small firms finance, and organizational behavior. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) with extensive teaching experience in Macroeconomics, International Macroeconomics, and Economic Policy.
Education: BSc and PG Dip in Economics/Mathematics from UNAM (Mexico), MSc in Quantitative Development Economics (Warwick), and PhD in Economics (Leicester).
Research focuses on macroeconomic policy analysis, particularly in emerging economies like Mexico. She has investigated topics such as inflation targeting, regional integration, self-employment dynamics, and SME management. Her work frequently uses econometric methods to analyze policy impacts and economic behavior.
Teaching includes core modules in Macroeconomics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Research Methods, and supervises MSc and PhD students. She leads PG project modules and serves as a PRESTige adviser and reviewer.
Key contributions include analyzing UK self-employment regional convergence, monetary policy rules in major economies, and the socioeconomic impacts of entrepreneurial transitions in rural areas.
She is part of the Global Economic Policy Group and has supervised doctoral research in macroeconometric modeling.
