Ivan Mendieta-Munoz

Dr. Ivan Mendieta-Munoz is an Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Economics at the University of Utah, where he has been a faculty member since 2016. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kent, an M.S. in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Kent, and a B.S. in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

His research focuses on macroeconomics and econometrics, particularly monetary economics, hysteresis dynamics, Bayesian time series methods, nonlinear/non-Gaussian models, and the interplay between heterogeneity, inequality, and business cycles. His work has been published in journals like Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Economics Letters, and Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics.

Notable awards include the Superior Teaching Award from the University of Utah, an INET research grant, and the Best Paper Award at the INFER Annual Conference. He has refereed for over thirty journals in economics and statistics.
