Rebeca Alvariño Romero

Rebeca Alvariño Romero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Santiago de Compostela. Her work focuses on the study of marine toxins, including their transduction mechanisms, therapeutic uses, and detection methods within the FARMATOX research group.

Her doctoral research (2019) evaluated the activity of natural compounds against oxidative stress and neuroinflammation with implications for Alzheimer's disease, supervised by Dr. Luis Miguel Botana López and Dr. Eva Alonso Lopez. She contributes to interdisciplinary projects bridging physiology and marine biotechnology.
