Reade Davis is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds a BA in Mathematics and Statistics from Queen's University (1996), a BA(H) in Sociology from Queen's University (1997), an MA in Anthropology from Memorial University (2000), and a PhD in Anthropology from Memorial University (2009).
His research focuses on environmental anthropology, political economy, and maritime studies with particular attention to fisheries management, marine protected areas, and the socio-cultural dimensions of resource extraction. Key themes include neoliberalism's impact on small-scale fisheries, science-policy interactions in conservation, and the cultural politics of risk and resignation in Newfoundland communities.
Dr. Davis has co-edited special issues such as *Neoliberalism and North American Small-Scale Fisheries* (Marine Policy, 2015) and *Hybrid Landscapes: Science, Conservation, and the Production of Nature* (Anthropological Quarterly, 2014). His recent publications analyze aquaculture politics, marine conservation challenges, and the intersection of oil and water management in Placentia Bay.
His work bridges disciplinary boundaries through multi-sited ethnography, addressing topics like biotechnology, posthumanism, and critical heritage studies. He actively participates in international conferences, contributing to debates on environmental ethics, fisheries policy, and the anthropology of organizations.
