Raúl Toral Garcés is a full professor in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and Deputy Director of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC, UIB-CSIC). He has been a Scientific Research Fellow at CSIC since 1992 and holds a leadership role in the Department of Complex Systems at IFISC.
- Graduated in Physics (Theoretical Physics) from the University of Barcelona in 1980
- PhD from the University of Barcelona in 1985
- NATO Science Fellow at the University of Edinburgh (1985-1987)
- Postdoctoral work with Prof. DJ Wallace and Prof. James D. Gunton
His research spans statistical and nonlinear physics, computational physics, and sociophysics, with over 200 publications and 5,000 citations. He has supervised 14 PhD students and directs the Master's Degree in Physics of Complex Systems at UIB. Key contributions include Monte-Carlo methods, stochastic differential equations, and non-equilibrium phase transitions.
