معرفی
Prof. Dr. Raúl Fonseca is a Chair Professor of Experimental Petrology and Geochemistry at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), Germany. His research integrates high-pressure/temperature experiments with isotope geochemistry to study planetary differentiation, focusing on terrestrial magmatism, sulfide melt dynamics, and stable isotope fractionation during core formation and crustal evolution.
- PhD in Geochemistry (Australian National University, 2007)
- Habilitation in Mineralogy (University of Bonn, 2013)
- Postdoctoral Habilitation (University of Cologne, 2018)
His work addresses key questions in planetary science, including the role of Fe-S melts in mantle elemental cycling, Ti isotope constraints on Archean crust formation, and B isotope fractionation during subduction-related fluid exsolution. Current projects funded by the DFG include studies on sulfide melt mobility in planetary interiors (FO 698/17-1, until 2028), Ti isotope records in Archean rocks (FO 698/14-1, until 2024), and B isotope behavior in arc magmatism (FO 698/10-1, until 2024).
Scientific awards and community contributions include election to the European Association of Geochemistry Council (2023), and editorial roles at Geochemical Perspectives Letters (2023) and Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry (2024). He teaches courses such as High-Temperature Geochemistry, Geochemie, and Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology to undergraduate and graduate students at RUB.
