Raymund Vitorio

Raymund Vitorio is an Associate Professor at De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines, specializing in sociolinguistics with research focused on language, mobility, and identity in Southeast Asian contexts including citizenship, tourism, and political discourse.

His educational background includes a joint PhD in Language Studies from the National University of Singapore and King's College London (2019), an MA in Language Studies from the National University of Singapore, and a BA in English Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

Dr. Vitorio's core research examines discursive constructions of citizenship, particularly how new citizens in Singapore negotiate legitimacy through language. His methodological approach integrates linguistic ethnography, corpus linguistics, and discourse analysis, with recent work expanding to Filipino migrant experiences in Germany through the project 'Multilingual Trajectories, Affective Regimes, and Precarious Positionalities.'
