Raymond Tallis is a Professorial Fellow in Philosophy at the University of Buckingham's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. A retired physician and clinical neuroscientist, he previously served as Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Manchester, where he ran clinical services at Hope Hospital Salford and led an academic department focused on epilepsy, stroke, and neurological rehabilitation. He edited major medical textbooks including The Clinical Neurology of Old Age and authored over 200 scientific papers in journals such as Nature Medicine, Brain, and Lancet.
Research Interests: His interdisciplinary work bridges clinical neuroscience (epilepsy, stroke rehabilitation) and philosophical domains including mind, metaphysics, anthropology, and cultural criticism. Current philosophical projects examine human consciousness, free will, and transience.

- Four honorary doctorates from Hull, Manchester, St George’s, and UEA

Professional Leadership: Chaired Healthcare Professionals for Assisted Dying (2011-2014), served on the Royal College of Physicians Council (2016-2019), and contributes to the UK Research Excellence Framework 2021 philosophy panel.
