Raymond Saner

Raymond Saner is a Titular Professor at the University of Basel, Switzerland. He co-founded CSEND, a Geneva-based NGO with ECOSOC accreditation (since 1993). Fluent in German, English, and French, he holds a PhD in Social Psychology from Union Graduate School (Cincinnati), an M.Ed. from Lesley University (Cambridge), and a BA in Economics from the University of Basel.

His research focuses on diplomacy, negotiation strategies, organizational culture within international agencies, and the evolving role of non-state actors in global development. He has authored influential books on negotiation theory and development diplomacy. Recent activities include organizing events like the 'Unpacking the High-Level Panel’s Report' (2019) and webinars on data diplomacy and negotiation pedagogy.

Saner’s work bridges academic research and policy practice, emphasizing the intersection of diplomacy with trade, education, and organizational dynamics. His publications address challenges in UN agency management, trade negotiations, and inclusive development strategies.
