Raymond Leong

Raymond Leong is an Instructor in the Computer Science Program of the EECS Department. His expertise stems from a unique background blending military service, cybersecurity, and academic instruction.

Education:

• M.A. in Foreign Area Studies from the University of Leeds
• B.S. in Management from the U.S. Air Force Academy

Research Interests: Leong’s professional focus lies in cybersecurity, with specific emphasis on:

• Reverse engineering of nation-state malware
• Malware analysis and threat intelligence
• Integration of space-based technologies in military operations
• Cyber operations and network defense
• Training and mentorship of cybersecurity professionals

Additional Roles: Leong has held significant military positions, including Tank Platoon Leader during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Space Operations Officer with the 1st Space Brigade, and Cyber Operations Officer in the Army Reserve. In his civilian career, he is a Staff Reverse Engineer on Google's FLARE Team, a Cyber Threat Analyst at Mandiant, and a former Task Force Officer with the FBI.
