Raymond Anthony

Raymond Anthony is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA), affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Philosophy. His research focuses on bioethical analysis, environmental philosophy, veterinary ethics, and the philosophy of technology. He leads a National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA)-funded project on animal disease management preparedness, emphasizing ethical engagement with veterinarians, disaster managers, and citizens. He serves as Co-Editor of the International Library of Environmental, Agricultural, and Food Ethics (LEAF) Series (Springer) and on the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Humane Endings Panels.

Research & Grants: Current projects include the Wellanimal study (NIFA-funded), exploring ethical frameworks for animal welfare during disasters, and collaborations on food ethics curricula and dairy chain sustainability in Brazil. His work bridges theoretical ethics with applied domains like veterinary medicine, food systems, and climate change.

Teaching: Courses include Professional Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Food Ethics, and Capstone seminars on topics like digital age ethics and global food security. He emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, integrating case studies and community engagement.
