Dr. Ravi M. Gupta serves as Interim Department Head of the Department of History, Cultures, and Ideas at Utah State University, holding the Charles Redd Chair of Religious Studies. Previously Department Head of History for four years, he has taught at the University of Florida, Centre College, and College of William and Mary.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Hinduism, University of Oxford (2004)
- MA in Study of Religion, University of Oxford (2000)
- BA in Philosophy and BS in Applied Mathematics, Boise State University (1999)
Gupta's research centers on Chaitanya Vaishnava theology and textual analysis of the Bhagavata Purana, establishing him as a leading scholar in Hindu studies with expertise spanning Sanskrit philology, religious theory, and Hindu-Christian dialogue. His methodological approach integrates theological interpretation with cultural history.
