- M.A. in Economics, University of Copenhagen, 1997
- Ph.D. in Economics, Northwestern University, 2002
Lentz's research investigates how heterogeneity among workers and firms shapes labor market dynamics, addressing productivity, job creation, wage determination, and inequality through micro-founded models disciplined by empirical data. He specializes in leveraging Danish administrative micro-panels spanning decades to identify structural mechanisms driving aggregate outcomes, with recurring focus on search frictions, on-the-job training, and human capital development.
Professor Lentz teaches graduate sequences in labor and macroeconomics, and undergraduate courses in Intermediate Microeconomics and Labor Economics. His methodology emphasizes rigorous micro-macro aggregation using longitudinal data, particularly through Danish administrative records that track individuals and firms over 30-40 years.
He is affiliated with the Inequality: Measurement, Interpretation, and Policy (MIP) network and utilizes Scandinavian administrative datasets as core empirical foundations for his research program.
