Dr. Rashpal Dhensa-Kahlon is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Psychological Sciences, Birkbeck, University of London. Her research focuses on trauma’s psychological impact, post-traumatic growth, and workplace mental health. She holds a PhD in Social and Organizational Psychology from the London School of Economics (2015), alongside MSc and BSc degrees in Psychology.
She is a Chartered Psychologist, Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She serves on BPS’ Crisis, Disaster and Trauma Psychology Division committee and collaborates with the NHS on commissioned research. Her academic roles include supervising PhD students, such as Emily Kitson (awarded 2021) and Megal Ramsell (commencing 2023).
Her research spans mixed-methods studies on adversity recovery, workplace health, and gender dynamics. Notable awards include a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship (2011) and a prestigious PhD studentship. She contributes to interdisciplinary groups like the Health and Lived Experiences (HALE) cluster and Birkbeck’s Mental Health Research Centre.
Key publications address mental health during pandemics, gendered parental leave attitudes, humor’s role in coping with workplace injustice, and organizational wellbeing interventions. Her work bridges clinical, social, and health psychology with organizational behavior.
