Rashida Scott-Cruz is an Adjunct Professor in the Music and Theatre Arts Department at Monmouth University. Since 2016, she has taught courses such as "The Business of Music" and "Music Industry Experiential Learning" (MU 301), focusing on equipping students with practical industry knowledge. Her commitment to enhancing educational experiences extends to creating the "Music Industry Webinar Series" to develop students' micro-credentials and entrepreneurial skills.
She is a co-founder of Monmouth Artists for Diversity and Inclusion (M.A.D.I.), an initiative that empowers students to address social issues and justice through music, lyrics, and art. M.A.D.I.'s inaugural project, "Blue Hawk Records’ presents M.A.D.I. Volume One," earned recognition via a Gubernatorial and Senatorial Proclamation from New Jersey for advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in higher education.
As a champion for women's representation in music, she collaborates with organizations to reshape industry narratives. She was nominated for the GRAMMY Museum 2024 Music Educator Award for her impactful teaching in high-quality music programs.
