Dr. Rasha Bayoumi is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Head of Research at the University of Birmingham Dubai, where she has been a key academic and research leader since 2021. She holds a PhD in Health Psychology from Cardiff University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her career spans clinical, research, and teaching roles across Canada, the UK, the US, Sudan, and Oman, including significant work with the World Health Organization.

Her research focuses on reproductive health, infertility, pregnancy loss, gender-based violence, women’s health, quality of life, and eating disorders. She is particularly interested in cultural adaptation of health tools and interventions in low- and middle-income countries. Her work emphasizes science diplomacy, equity, and sustainability, as reflected in her 2024 appointment as Co-Chair of the UAE Universities Climate Network (UCN).
Her recent publications, primarily in Frontiers in Public Health and Reproductive BioMedicine Online, demonstrate a strong trend toward systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and culturally sensitive interventions in global reproductive and mental health. Themes include fertility awareness, mental health in conflict zones, and ethical considerations in international research.

Dr. Bayoumi has extensive experience in grant writing, supervising Master’s students, and managing multinational research teams. She has led WHO-funded projects and continues to serve as a technical advisor on UNFPA initiatives. She is involved in developing and adapting mental health and fertility assessment tools for use in the Middle East and Africa, contributing to global health equity. Her lab and research team focus on interdisciplinary, multicultural projects with real-world impact.
