Raquel Sanchez Ibañez

Raquel Sánchez Ibáñez is an Associate Professor (Contratado Doctor) in the Faculty of Education at the University of Murcia, specializing in Didactics of Social Sciences within the Department of Didactics of Mathematical and Social Sciences. She leads research in history education, textbook analysis, and teacher training as co-principal investigator of the Didactics of Social Sciences (DICSO) research group.

Her research explores innovative pedagogical approaches including gamification, heritage education, and digital tools for social sciences instruction. Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on historical thinking competencies, textbook evaluation across European contexts, and technology-mediated learning strategies.

With extensive international experience including research stays at the University of East Anglia and University of Bari, she coordinates the Bilingual Education & Science Teaching innovation group and has led six teaching innovation projects. She has co-supervised six doctoral theses and serves as an evaluator for the Spanish State Research Agency.
