Raquel Oliveira Rodrigues

Raquel Oliveira Rodrigues is a Researcher at the University of Minho, serving as a Scientific Associate at CMEMS and holding a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship at INL with a secondment at Harvard Medical School (Brigham Women’s Hospital, USA) for the BrainChip4Med project. She was awarded an individual CEEC for junior researcher by FCT.

She earned her PhD from the University of Porto in 2018, where she won the Fraunhofer Best Portuguese PhD Thesis competition in Biomedical Engineering.

Her research focuses on the multidisciplinary fields of biotechnology, nanomedicine, microfluidics, biosensors, and organ-on-a-chip. She has acquired experience at renowned institutions including Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (via a Fulbright Research Grant) and NASA Ames Research Centre.

Dr. Rodrigues has been involved in 12 R&D projects, serving as Principal Investigator for one project. Her publication record includes 28 papers in international journals, 6 book chapters, 4 conference proceedings, 2 cover articles, and 1 WO Patent.

She has received notable awards:

• Fraunhofer Best Portuguese PhD Thesis competition in Biomedical Engineering
• Marie Curie Individual Fellowship

As a member of the Hanay Research Group at INL and CMEMS at the University of Minho, she aims to become an independent researcher developing nanomedicine and advanced diagnostic devices for real-world medical impact.
