Raphael Susewind

Raphael Susewind is an Associate Professor (Education) in Qualitative Methods at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He specializes in political anthropology, focusing on urban India, particularly North India. His research examines religious politics, urban segregation, masculine aspirations, and the political economy of corruption. He has held roles at King's College London and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity.

• Education: PhD in Sociology/Social Anthropology, degrees in Political Science and Area Studies.

His research interests include studying religio-political dynamics within Muslim communities in India, spatial politics of segregation, and the intersection of development and religious identity. He led a major Luce Foundation-funded project on 'Muslims in a Time of Hindu Majoritarianism.'
