Raphael Moreno is a doctoral student at the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (SMNS) and affiliated with the University of Hohenheim, where his research focuses on documenting changes in Upper Triassic tetrapod faunas in southern Germany and their climate-driven ecological dynamics. He employs ecological niche modeling to analyze connections between climate shifts and fossil occurrences.
- Education: M.Sc. (2017) and B.Sc. (2014) in Geosciences from Heidelberg University
- Current Roles: Since 2023, scientific staff for the special exhibition "Triassic Life: Aufbruch in die Welt der Saurier"; since 2021, freelance educator at SMNS
- Field Research: Trossingen (Upper Triassic), Vellberg-Eschenau (Upper Triassic), Coahuila (Upper Cretaceous), Newfoundland (Ediacaran-Cambrian)
His recent publications investigate temnospondyl biogeography, Mastodonsaurus ontogeny, and paleodiversity in the Grabfeld Formation. Moreno has received a doctoral scholarship under the State Graduate Funding Act (Baden-Württemberg) since 2020.
