Raphaël Bloch-Lainé is a Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Department of French Studies and Modern Languages at The American University of Paris (AUP). He holds a Master’s in Teaching French as a Foreign Language from the University of Paris 3 and advanced degrees in Political Sciences, Philosophy, and Linguistics from Parisian universities. His academic career at AUP since 2008 has focused on curriculum development, including designing French courses for graduate students and launching the Global French Studies major. He currently serves as FirstBridge Coordinator, supporting student integration and faculty mentoring. His research interests include integrating emerging technologies for inclusive language learning, aligning with CEFRL benchmarks, and enhancing interdisciplinary cultural awareness.
Education: Master’s in Teaching French (Paris 3), Master’s in Civil Service (Sciences Po Paris), Bachelor’s in Linguistics (Paris 7), and Bachelor’s in Philosophy (Sorbonne).
Key contributions include refining assessment methodologies in language education, developing introductory courses combining linguistics and cultural studies, and coordinating the Global French Studies program. He teaches courses on linguistics, French culture, and reflective seminars.
