Raphael ("Raffi") Amit is the Marie and Joseph Melone Professor and Professor of Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He founded the Wharton Global Family Alliance (WGFA), focusing on family business partnerships, and served as Academic Director of Wharton Entrepreneurship (1999-2015).
Education:
- B.A. and M.A. in Economics
- Ph.D. in Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management
Research Interests include family business governance, venture capital/entrepreneurial finance, business model innovation, and strategic management. His work integrates behavioral, emotional, economic, and financial aspects of family enterprises.

- Sage Scholarly Impact Award – Finalist (2016)
- Strategic Management Journal Best Paper Prize (2000)
- Fellow of the Strategic Management Society (2009)
- Over 10 major academic and industry awards
Professional Activities: Board member in global firms (Alvarion Ltd., private Hong Kong family firm), former Chair of Creo Products Inc. (acquired by Kodak), and key role in forming Korea’s $100M Korean Global IT Fund.
