Ranyta Yusran is a Doctoral student and Researcher in Public International Law at the Department of Law, Lund University. Her research focuses on the history of international law's treatment of colonized peoples (1945–1955), particularly Indonesia's independence struggle. She examines tensions between trusteeship principles and self-determination in post-WWII international law. Previously, she worked as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore's Centre for International Law (2010–2018), specializing in ASEAN law and policy.
Research Highlights:
- Investigates how colonial resistance shaped decolonization law, emphasizing Indonesia's role in fostering Third World solidarity.
- Analyzes the UN Trusteeship System's role in legitimizing colonialism and its collapse amid nationalist movements.
Teaching: Course coordinator for SASJ02 - Introduction to International Law. Recognition: Recipient of the Asian Society of International Law Young Scholar Prize (2019) and Asian Journal of International Law Annual Reviewer Award (2023).
Collaborations: Visiting researcher at the Centre for International Law, National University of Singapore (2022, 2024). Research spans ASEAN dispute mechanisms, treaty practices, and decolonization history.
