Edoardo Altamura is a Visiting Research Fellow at Lund University's Department of Economic History and the research group 'Economic Development of the Global South,' affiliated with the School of Economics and Management. He obtained a dual PhD from the University of Geneva and Uppsala University and previously held positions as Visiting Scholar at the University of Cambridge and Visiting Professor at El Colegio de México.
His research focuses on post-war international financial history, emphasizing banking systems, public debt dynamics, and political economy in Western and developing economies. Key interests include the role of European banks in global finance and historical analysis of financial crises.
Altamura's publications predominantly explore 20th-century financial history, with recurring themes in European banking evolution, petrodollar recycling, and post-Bretton Woods monetary systems. His work integrates economic history with political economy frameworks.
